The Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial, as seen from the Mall in Washington, D.C.
This painting was made by Peggy Bacon (1895-1987) sometime between 1933 and 1943.
It is now in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, situated just off the Mall.

Jeanne, I'm glad you like this, too. I first saw Peggy Bacon's work last year in a group exhibition "Women Graduates of the Art Students' League, New York". So I went looking for more and cached this image from the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, where there are several more and a biography. www.americanart.si.edu.
