Of course, she was far from the only female artist whose work was overlooked.Jane A Librizzinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1086588560855961894.post-63917937380169523712023-10-25T11:37:24.672-07:002023-10-25T11:37:24.672-07:00I saw this painting in San Francisco many years ag...I saw this painting in San Francisco many years ago and it knocked me out. Rivera is well known for his highly regimented, almost geometric murals, but this is as sensuous as anything I’ve ever seen. It demonstrates that Rivera had the skill and talent to go in any direction that he chose and that everything we see in his work is the result of a conscious decision he made. Those who have been inculcated into the cult of Kahlo and look on Diego as an afterthought have missed it. Diego was a great master. But he certainly understood the females in his paintings. The two young women in The Hammock would have been delighted with the way they were depicted - great figures, sexy positions, modern clothes *sighs happily*.Helshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02849907428208235392noreply@blogger.com
